Your photos stay on your iPhone.
1. Who we are
CleanCut is published by Matthew Holdsworth (the "developer", "we"). Contact: aiethereals@gmail.com.
2. What the app accesses on your device
| Data | Why | Where it goes |
|---|---|---|
| Photos and videos you allow through the iOS Photos permission (full or limited access) | To find duplicates and clutter, build a private search index, and move only the items you select to Recently Deleted | Stays on your device. Never uploaded. |
| Photo metadata: capture and edit dates, dimensions, favourite flag, camera mode, and location coordinates if present | Older-media, trip, and same-place reviews; searchable collections | Stays on your device. Locations are never sent anywhere to be named. |
| Derived data: image hashes, Vision labels, recognised text, face rectangles and feature prints, sharpness scores, and names you assign to people | Search, suggestions and faster re-scans | Stored in a private index inside the app's container with complete file protection, excluded from device and iCloud backups. |
| Purchase status | To unlock deletion after your one-time purchase | Handled by Apple's StoreKit on your device. We receive no payment details. |
3. What we do not do
- We do not create accounts or collect names, emails, identifiers, or device fingerprints.
- We do not upload photos, thumbnails, text, face data, embeddings, or metadata.
- We do not use analytics, advertising, tracking, or third-party SDKs of any kind.
- We do not sell or share data, because we have none.
- We do not perform facial recognition or identity claims. Face suggestions are visual-similarity rankings that you confirm or reject; the app never states that two people are the same.
4. Deletion is always yours
CleanCut never deletes a photo by itself. Items move to Recently Deleted only after you select them and confirm Apple's system prompt. You can restore them from Photos โ Albums โ Recently Deleted for up to 30 days.
5. Retention and erasure
The private index stays on your device until you erase it. Settings โ Erase private index in the app deletes it immediately. Uninstalling CleanCut removes the app container and everything in it. Revoking Photos permission in iOS Settings also causes the app to erase its index.
6. Payments
The one-time unlock is sold through Apple's In-App Purchase system. Apple processes the payment and is the merchant of record; we never see your card or billing details. Apple's privacy policy applies to that transaction. Refund requests go to Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
7. This website
This site is static and hosted by Vercel Inc. Like any web host, Vercel may record standard server logs (IP address, user agent, request time) to operate the service. We do not add analytics or cookies. See Vercel's privacy policy.
8. Children
CleanCut is not directed at children under 13 and collects no data from anyone.
9. Your rights
Because we hold no personal data, there is nothing for us to access, correct, export or delete on your behalf; all of it is on your device under your control. If you have a privacy question, email aiethereals@gmail.com and we will answer within 14 days.
10. Changes
If a future version ever adds networking, crash reporting, analytics or a third-party model, this policy, the App Store privacy details and the in-app disclosures will be updated first, and the change will be dated here.
