Privacy policy

Your photos stay on your iPhone.

Effective 3 September 2026 ยท Applies to the CleanCut app for iOS and iPadOS and to this website.
The short version. CleanCut has no account system, no analytics or advertising SDK, no crash reporter, and no server of its own. The app makes no network requests. Every analysis of your photos, including duplicate detection, text recognition, face detection, blur estimation and search, runs on your device using Apple's frameworks. We do not collect, receive, store or sell any personal data.

1. Who we are

CleanCut is published by Matthew Holdsworth (the "developer", "we"). Contact: aiethereals@gmail.com.

2. What the app accesses on your device

3. What we do not do

4. Deletion is always yours

CleanCut never deletes a photo by itself. Items move to Recently Deleted only after you select them and confirm Apple's system prompt. You can restore them from Photos โ†’ Albums โ†’ Recently Deleted for up to 30 days.

5. Retention and erasure

The private index stays on your device until you erase it. Settings โ†’ Erase private index in the app deletes it immediately. Uninstalling CleanCut removes the app container and everything in it. Revoking Photos permission in iOS Settings also causes the app to erase its index.

6. Payments

The one-time unlock is sold through Apple's In-App Purchase system. Apple processes the payment and is the merchant of record; we never see your card or billing details. Apple's privacy policy applies to that transaction. Refund requests go to Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.

7. This website

This site is static and hosted by Vercel Inc. Like any web host, Vercel may record standard server logs (IP address, user agent, request time) to operate the service. We do not add analytics or cookies. See Vercel's privacy policy.

8. Children

CleanCut is not directed at children under 13 and collects no data from anyone.

9. Your rights

Because we hold no personal data, there is nothing for us to access, correct, export or delete on your behalf; all of it is on your device under your control. If you have a privacy question, email aiethereals@gmail.com and we will answer within 14 days.

10. Changes

If a future version ever adds networking, crash reporting, analytics or a third-party model, this policy, the App Store privacy details and the in-app disclosures will be updated first, and the change will be dated here.
